1. Unable to Enter Name at Character Select Screen
If you're playing on a Windows 10 or 8 system, you are unable to enter your player name at the character select screen. It's as if your keyboard is locked. Worse, you're not allowed to start a game unless you enter a name.
To fix, install this patch. Unzip the three files to any folder and run "PatchInstall.bat"
Or, if you know your way around the ACT toolkit's Compatibility Administrator (32-bit), you can create your own patch by selecting the "EmulateUSER" fix.

You can also correct this issue by simply setting Windows 95 compatibility mode for your Clue.exe, but this has a side effect - compatibility mode breaks the save feature inside the game. Usually, this would not be a big deal, but Murder at Boddy Mansion has a terrible bug in it which causes the computer characters to freeze, leaving you no choice but to exit the game. This bug occurs frequently, so saving your game regularly is pretty important.
If you do choose to install my patch, make sure you don't have any compatibility modes set for your Clue.exe. If you have, for example, Windows 95 compatibility mode selected, this will "override" the patch and you still won't be able to save.
2. Application Error - The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022)
If you receive the following error when you try to start the game:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application"
No worries - it likely just means you need to install DirectPlay.
To do this, open Control Panel, and select "Programs and Features."
On the left side of the screen, you should see "Turn Windows features on or off."
At the next screen, open "Legacy Components" and check to see if DirectPlay is listed. If it is, make sure it has a checkmark next to it and then press OK.
After a few moments you should seen a screen like the following. Wait for the install to complete and then select Close. Try the game again - it should load now.
