Powerslide crashes on launch with certain sound cards. If you receive this error, open ps_clo.exe in your Powerslide folder, and check "-nopollsound"

Graphics Corruption & Setting up a Glide Wrapper

Chances are, Powerslide won't be able to detect your Direct3D card. So, if you want to play the game in anything other than the default software renderer, you're probably going to need a Glide wrapper. Which wrapper you choose may depend on which version of Powerslide you have.

There are several iterations of the game -

v1.00 (The initial release)

v1.01 (The first patch)

v.1.02 (A CD release which included the updates from the v1.01 patch. This is the version I have.

v.1.04 (The final patch)

v1.00 is notable for apparently being the ONLY version which will work with the popular nGlide wrapper at the moment. All other versions of the game suffer from corrupted graphics.

If you're stuck with a version other than v1.00, you can use dgVoodoo 2.

After downloading dgvoodoo, unzip dgvoodoosetup.exe and glide2x.dll to your Powerslide game folder and then run the dgvoodoosetup program. After the configurator loads, click the "Glide" tab.

This is my configuration. "16 bit depth buffer" is not checked by default, but without it I get a weird bug where I can't ESC out of a race. I keep getting kicked back to the game.

Remember of course that dgVoodoo 2 is for newer, DirectX 11 systems. If you're on an older computer, you'll need an older version of dgVoodoo, like the v.1.50beta2, which is still available from the dgvoodoo site.

Anyway, once you're ready, click apply and OK. You should notice a new file 'dgvoodoo.conf' has been added to your game directory. Now, load Powerslide and make sure you select, "Glide 2" as the driver in the graphics options.
