NBA Live 2001
Unable to launch on Windows 10
NBA Live 2001 will not load on Windows 10, due to Win10 no longer supporting games which made use of SafeDisc copy protection. You might get an error telling you to run the game as an administrator, but when you do this, nothing at all happens.
Currently, the only way around this issue is to download a No-CD patch or fixed exe for the game. You can find these files at GameFix.
GameFix NBA Live 2001 page
The file I downloaded was the --
NBA Live 2001 v1.0/SPANISH [1.3 MB] Backup CD / Fixed Executable
Download this file and unzip the new nbawin.exe to your NBA Live 2001 folder, replacing the original. You should now be able to load the game --- and no worries -- it will still work in English. :)
dgVoodoo Setup
If you're experiencing corrupted or missing graphics, this can be corrected with the dgVoodoo DirectX wrapper.
Download dgVoodoo (v2.51 or later) from here ----
http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html
Unzip the following 4 files from this zip to your NBA Live 2001 game folder
dgVoodooCpl.exe (dgVoodooSetup.exe in v.2.53 or earlier)
DDraw.dll (located in the MS folder)
D3DImm.dll (same)
D3D8.dll (same)
Next, navigate to your Live 2001 folder in File Explorer and run dgVoodooSetup. You have to add the Live 2001 folder as a "running instance." All that means is you have to click the little backslash button - I have it circled in red here. Once you do that, your NBA Live 2001 directory should appear in the box. Click OK to exit the configurator -- make sure a file named 'dgvoodoo.conf' has appeared in your Live 2001 folder. If it has not, re-run dgVoodooSetup as an administrator.
Run Live 2001. Once the main menu appears, go to Options/Details, and set "Texture Detail" to Medium or lower. Otherwise the court graphics will be glitched.
Play! Hopefully luck shines on you and everything works.
