NASCAR Revolution
NASCAR Revolution Playable on Windows 10 Through DxWnd
NASCAR Revolution suffers from the same "black box of death" on newer Windows as NASCAR 2000 does -- and the process for bypassing it is nearly identical.
DxWnd is required in order to play - this is a special program which allows you to run full screen Windows applications in a window.
Unzip the files anywhere and run dxwnd.exe.
When the DxWnd window appears, click edit in the toolbar and then add from the dropdown.
We need to enter the path to your NASCAR 2000.exe. Do this by clicking the three dots next to the path entry, then navigating to your NASCAR 2000 folder.
Highlight your NASCAR Revolution.exe and click open.
At this point, you should be looking at something like this. DxWnd has a ton of additional options, but fortunately you shouldn't have to deal with any of them. Just click OK.
You should now see an entry for NASCAR Revolution.exe in your DxWnd menu. Double click it to launch.
You'll receive a popup message asking if you want to run the game in D3D or Glide mode. I recommend Glide -- the nGlide wrapper works great for this game.
Here is where it gets weird. You'll see a black box - move your cursor to the title bar and click n'drag the window. The window will maximize -- you still won't be able to see anything, but you should hear the intro start to play. When you hear it, press ESC.
The game's splash screen will appear but you will be frozen again -- move your mouse around until it pops out of the window and perform another click and drag. The main menu should appear now, and you will be home free. If you wish, you can maximize the game window after you begin a race.
Watch this video to see this process in action. Note that you will always have to have DxWnd loaded before you use this trick.
